This is totally cool. It is a reprint of a period publication from the Great Exhibition, with full text and great illustrations. Pity it is a kind of collector's edition now by itself, since it was done in 1970. If you like Victoriana, this is a great book for you.
I was a bit disappointed, as I wanted to see more coverage of the mechanicals.The illustrations are detailed for the manufactured goods. This is a snapshotin time of British and world-wide technology of the mid-19th century.

The detail I was seeking about the Crystal Palace and its construction were missing from the book and it was mainly a catalogue of uninteresting items. I learned more by Googling what various countries sent than I did from this publication. The book itself arrived in very poor condition due to insufficient packaging. Not one of my best purchases.
I am fascinated by the 1851 exhibition, if only GB could do as well now? just compare the Crystal Palace with the ugly pimple by the Thames for 2000!! This book is in very good condition, a slight whiff of tobacco smoke but no problem.Jim Clarke
