Matt Avery’s research into the Chevy COPO muscle cars of the 60’s & 70’s is an interesting read. This is a well written & researched history of the men behind the cars and the cars themselves. Anyone that Loves the musclecar era will enjoy this book and photos... Great Book!
Very pleased with the contents of the book. There is new information included concerning the COPO cars and the program itself that I liked.
Of all the books I have read and bought this is the most factual. The individuals that were consulted are the best. The quality of the pictures , the content is without compare. The price through Amazon was the best. If you enjoy Muscle Cars this is a must read. Joe Maggio

I am a huge GM guy,I've always been crazy about General Motors great line of vehicles specifically the Classic 50s/60s vehicles up to the 80s. The Mark Of Excellence' central office production order Or COPO system was not initially intended for Muscle Cars even though all MuscleCar fans know it now,This beautiful first of it's kind book takes a look at The COPO cars of the 60s,a Little background before delving into it, and goes on to detail not just Camaros,Chevelles and Novas but Corvairs(Yenko Stingers) as well! I would love to have seen/read about Any Corvettes but it is not included or glanced over,no matter,the point of the book fails not and I Love looking at some of the Sleeper vehicles some lucky gearhead owns now or owned then or ordered initially. COPO cars ate up the asphalt and now while you may not ever be able to own one you can dream of owning them and your not too far from this book like I am,I throughly enjoyed it . I Love it.
I was totally amazed by this book! It is very informative on the COPO, which I was not familiar with. Central Office Production Order-Chevy's process of handling special, out-of-the-ordinary circumstances for new vehicle orders. There was so much research put into creating this amazing book. It focuses on 10 different models/years of Chevy cars including-Corvair, Camaro, Nova SS, Chevelle, and Vega.It contains many color photos throughout the book. It also contains a few vintage black & white pics. They show every angle of the cars exterior and also interior and engine close-ups.I love how it depicts the different factory options and specifics offered with each car.The Appendix 1 contains some interesting facts on all 1969 ZL1 Camaros- VIN #, Color, Ordered By, Sold By, and Factory Options.Appendix 2 contains 1968 Gibb Novas-VIN #, Color Code, Color Description, and Type of Transmission.So much research involved in writing this book.It is a must-have for any vintage Chevy muscle car enthusiast or anyone that just loves cars for that matter.
If your REALLY passionate about big-block muscle cars of the 60's and early 70's, then this is the book for you. As described in great detail by the author, Chevrolet had a unadvertised automobile order program called COPO (Central Office Production Order) that allowed dealers to order specific options( i.e. high horsepower engines) that were different from regular production guidelines. This loophole allowed certain high performance dealers to place monstrous engines in Camaros, Chevelles, and Novas., that normally couldn't be ordered. Additionally, the author has tracked down owners and industry people involved in the hidden program, along with hundreds of photos of their COPO cars. This is the most detailed anaylsis of the COPO program to date and is a must buy addition to any car guy's collection of memorabilia.
