DON'T BUY/RENT THIS IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR AN ACCESS CODE. This rental does NOT come with one despite the actual TITLE of this product saying "PLUS MASTERING A&P WITH eTEXT -- ACCESS CARD PACKAGE" TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. I could have gotten a cheaper book but I rented this one because it said it came with the access card package. That was a blatant LIE. Just be aware of that before you purchase/rent.
I ordered because it said it had an access code. Did not come with an access code. completely useless. All my homework comes from the website.
This book is PERFECT! My class has the 8th edition listed, but as we ALLL know, these text book companies make like 4 changes and charge an arm and a leg. As a single mother back in school, I can't afford that and financial aid isn't an option because I already graduated with a BA. Anyways, the content in this international version is very easily understood and the layout is visually stimulating. The seller was efficient and fast in sending me the book. It came in plastic wrap with NO damage. I am so happy to have this book.
Just received my item and it is bent in on multiple corners. One of the seams is ripped. The cover is dirty, dusty, and bent. The book seems used. Some of the pages have ink blotched on them. This is ridiculous. I paid for a new book! As a college student I chose to spend extra money to get this book brand new. I should get a new book. Not something that looks like it was run over and kicked around in its box. The box was also damaged as well that it came in. I’m not happy!
I purchased this book here on amazon in order to complete my physiology class. However, upon receiving my book, I discovered that there was no access card inside. Aside from this, the book was great... however I just could not justify the purchase again without a guaranteed access card, as I paid extra for this copy since it was advertised that it came with it included.
This textbook covers a lot of the basics and is easy to follow and read; the diagrams are simple and clearly laid out. Each section within a chapter ends with a concept check to help the reader understand the main ideas covered. And each chapter ends with a summary of key concepts/definitions in bold print follow by three levels of questions: 1) reviewing facts and terms, 2) concepts, and 3) problem solving. The best part of this text book is NOT having to purchase another book that provides all the answers, because they are already included in this book! Moreover, at the beginning of each chapter includes a "running problem", which provides an actual physiological illness/disease describing the symptoms and as the readers continues, the book will ask a question about that particular disease relating to the key concept that is covered. I think this is a great way to help apply the material learned in that section to a real life illness. This is better than the medical physiology book I currently have, which is overwhelming and more difficult to read. If only Dr. Silverthorn would also write one for graduate students, physiology would probably be more fun to learn!
Taking pathophysiology in pharmacy school, this was a wonderful book. It was so detailed, and supplemented the lectures with material. For me, reading helps me understand the material and put the big picture together. It explains in more detail certain aspects the professors went over in class that help me learn. The pictures are in color. The book I got was a paperback, but I did not mind that. Really, this is a great human physiology book that I would recommend any student to consider as a supplemental book or for a professor to consider as a required reading book. It definitely helped me study.
Pages a bit folded and wrinkled. Book spine definitely has been through somethings. But overall usable. Don’t recommend the used if it’s going to be toted places. 1) because it’s heavy & bulky 2) because of all the wear & tear I don’t want to add any more to it since I’m renting it.! I keep mine at home and then rented a kindle version for mobility purposes.
